5 Ways to Prepare Your Foam Roof for Summer in Mesa AZ

Spring is here and with it weather that increase the wear and tear on a foam roof in Phoenix AZ. Summer follows shortly behind, and that brings heat and a lot of direct sunlight. With that in mind, let us consider five steps that you can take now to ensure minimal deterioration throughout these next two seasons.

1. Schedule an Inspection

With winter behind you and spring upon you, this is an excellent time to schedule a roof inspection. You should schedule an assessment once a year at a minimum. Always choose a licensed and experienced contractor that you can trust and depend on. If the inspector finds anything even minor, go ahead and deal with it now because that small cost up front can save you a lot over time.

2. Clear Your Roof

You should clear your roof of leaves and other debris as soon as winter ends. You should also consider clearing it after any serious storm. We include it here second because many roofing companies provide the inspection and cleaning in one visit at one low cost. In addition to clearing the surface itself, it is important to ensure that that the gutters and downspouts are clear and allow water to flow freely.

3. Remove Animal Nests

You should remove all manner of animal nesting. It may be possible to take care of the nests during the cleaning process. However, the fact that there are nest and perhaps other signs of damage means that you should schedule a pest company to assess the roof and make their own recommendations.

4. Trim Trees and Evaluate Adjacent Areas

Avoid branches that overhang your roof as these will drop leaves and other matter onto your roof as well as provide easier access to animals. If the trees are your own, schedule professional trimming. If the trees belong to the local jurisdiction or another business, then you should make a formal request.

5. Gather Your Vital Documentation

Avoid waiting for an emergency to strike. Then, you can be left scrambling for your roof warranty, roof maintenance agreements, insurance policies and so on and so forth. If you haven’t already, gather all of that information in a single safe location so that you have it should you need it. This is also a good time to reread all of it in order to identify gaps in coverage, such as a warranty that has recently expired.
